Te Tūranga | About the role:
We are looking for an Application Specialist to join the team at Silver Fern Farms.
In this role, you will test, configure, and deploy our new Manufacturing Execution System (MES), called Emydex, on-site, to our meat processing facilities.
The core deliverable of this role is to ensure success through system analysis, troubleshooting, configuration, and ongoing improvements. You’ll play an integral part in various aspects of the deployment lifecycle, including deployments into production, system support, training, release management, and continuous system enhancement post go-live.
This position offers the opportunity to work on an exciting project, to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and contribute to the smooth operation of critical business systems. Because this is a project focused role, we are hiring on a 12-month fixed term, covering the rollout of two remaining beef sites (in Hawkes Bay and Balclutha), and will then support deployment to our Venison sites near the end of 2025.
This person can be based from almost anywhere in NZ, however, there is a requirement to travel for this role, approximately 7-10 days per month, likely in block of 4-5 days at a time. Most of our project cutovers occur on weekends, so there will need to be work completed on Saturday and Sundays.

Ōu Pūkenga | About You:
To be successful in this role, you will bring a combination of technical expertise, strong communication skills, and a passion for solving problems. You will have excellent technical skills and be happy performing work in a practical setting in a manufacturing/processing facility.
You will have a good understanding of:
- Systems analysis, troubleshooting, and support with a focus on MES or similar systems
- SQL and low-code development for application configuration and reporting
- Business analysis, data analysis, and solution design
- Application testing and release management
- Experience with systems documentation and managing change/enhancement requests
- Familiarity with key technologies such as Microsoft SQL, low-code tools, and reporting solutions
