Te Tūranga / About the Role:

We’re looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Beef Grader to join our Operations team at Silver Fern Farms Finegand. In this role, you’ll be responsible for ensuring daily quality and food safety compliance across beef grading operations. You will carry out physical and documentation checks to ensure all supervisory tasks are accurately completed, recorded, and meet both company and regulatory standards.

As a key member of the team, you will uphold the highest standards of product quality and food safety, providing essential oversight in beef grading, technical auditing, product specification, and regulatory compliance. You’ll also support continuous improvement by identifying non-conformances, ensuring corrective actions are implemented effectively, and maintaining open communication across departments.

Shift Patterns as follows: 4am - 12.30pm Mon to Friday, Saturday work as production allows.

You’ll bring a sharp eye for detail, a passion for quality, and a commitment to maintaining excellence in food safety and compliance. You’ll thrive in a fast-paced environment, balancing commercial priorities with regulatory obligations, all while contributing positively to the wider team culture.

Ideally, you will have:

• A tertiary qualification in food technology, science, or a related field would be advantageous. Full training will be provided.

• Experience or training in a similar meat grading or quality assurance role

• Solid understanding of HACCP principles and food safety systems

• Knowledge of regulatory and legislative requirements within the meat industry

• Competence in using Microsoft Office applications (Word and Excel)

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams
