Te Tūranga | About the Role

We’re looking for a motivated and practical Apprentice Electrician to join our Engineering & Maintenance team at Silver Fern Farms Finegand in Balclutha, one of New Zealand’s leading beef and lamb processing sites.

This is a fantastic opportunity to complete your electrical apprenticeship in a large manufacturing environment, working alongside qualified Electricians who will support you as you learn the trade. You’ll assist with electrical maintenance, fault finding, and installations that help keep production running safely and efficiently.

Te Mahi | Key Responsibilities

• Support electrical maintenance - assist with the maintenance, repair, and testing of electrical systems and equipment across the site.
• Learn and develop - gain exposure to industrial plant, motors, control systems, and preventative maintenance programmes.
• Champion safety - follow safe work practices, policies, and procedures in a high-risk manufacturing environment.
• Work as a team - collaborate with electricians and the wider maintenance team to complete planned and reactive work.

Ōu Pūkenga | About You

You’ll bring:

• A strong interest in pursuing a career as an Electrician (pre-trade qualification preferred but not essential).
• Practical aptitude and confidence using tools.
• A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and strong work ethic.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
• A clear commitment to health, safety, and compliance standards.
