Te Tūranga | About the Role
Based within our Sales and Operations Planning team, the Assistant Livestock Allocation Scheduler plays a key supporting role in ensuring accurate and timely livestock bookings across our national processing network.
Reporting to the Senior Livestock Allocation Scheduler, you’ll develop your capability in allocating livestock space in line with production requirements, animal welfare standards, and regional priorities. You’ll work closely with Livestock Representatives, Transport Operators, and internal stakeholders across sites to support seamless delivery planning, resolve booking issues, and contribute to continuous improvement in our scheduling processes.
This is a hands-on learning role that offers exposure to multiple livestock species and regional dynamics while actively supporting weekly planning and booking cycles. Some after-hours and weekend rostered support is required, along with occasional travel.
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday 7.30am-4.30pm with some flexibility required after hours and on the odd Saturday.
This role has a South Island focus, and we are ideally seeking someone based at one of our South Island locations:
- Dunedin Hub
- Balclutha (Finegand)
Key Responsibilities
- Support weekly livestock planning and space allocation in line with site capacity and priority guidance
- Liaise with Regional Livestock Managers and Livestock Representatives to communicate bookings and changes
- Assist with publishing allocations and actioning livestock transfers where required
- Optimise delivery schedules and transport loads to support efficient site operations
- Ensure compliance with livestock transport regulations, programme requirements, and documentation standards
- Maintain, update, and generate allocation and booking reports
- Participate in team initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement across planning processes
Ōu Pūkenga | About You
We’re looking for someone who can work in a ‘grey’ area and able to handle constant change and communicate effectively. If you are curious, organised, and eager to grow within the livestock supply chain. You may have experience in agricultural logistics, scheduling, or farming operations - or you may simply bring a strong interest in livestock and a willingness to learn.
You’ll also bring:
- Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with internal and external stakeholders
- A detail-oriented, accurate, and proactive approach to coordination
- An understanding of livestock operations, transport requirements, and scheduling cycles
- Solid computer literacy, including Excel and business system navigation
- Flexibility to support after-hours and weekend scheduling when required
- A collaborative mindset with a passion for continuous improvement
