Our Silver Fern Farms processing site in Takapau employs more than 900 team members at the height of the season and contributes significantly to employment across Central Hawke’s Bay. Located 30 minutes north of Dannevirke, 50 minutes south of Hastings and Havelock North, and just 15 minutes from the whānau-friendly rural town of Waipukurau, we're currently recruiting Slaughterers' Assistants, Trimmers, Boners and General Labourers. No experience is required, with full training provided and opportunities to progress into quality control, health and safety, leadership and beyond.
Te mahi, our working arrangements:
- Complete your on-the-job training and earn a minimum $28.82/hr plus extras.
- Usually, 40 hours per week during peak production season, plus overtime opportunities.
- Minimum $43/hr production overtime rate.
- 8-hour shifts, day shift and evening shifts times vary falling between 6.00am to 4.00pm, and 2.50pm to 12.00am.
- All work clothing and safety gear is provided.

- No experience? No problem, we provide all the training you need.
- You’re an active team member who attends work daily, can work closely with others, and brings a positive, hardworking attitude.
- Able to understand and follow health and safety, quality, and technical compliance requirements.
- Eligible to work in New Zealand.
- Must be 18 years or older to meet audit requirements.
- Able to pass our pre-employment medical checks, criminal convictions check, and physical fitness requirements.
